Basarnas Evacuate ODGJ In Aceh's Simeulue Island Forest
MEULABOH - The Basarnas team together with residents succeeded in evacuating People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ), Jamaluddin (35 years), a resident of Kahad Village, Simeulue Regency, Aceh after being declared missing, Tuesday, May 3.
"Alhamdulillah, the victim has been found in a forest area in a safe condition," said Basarnas Pos Coordinator Simeulue Mahdi as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 4.
Mahdi explained that when officers were found, Jamaluddin, a resident from Central Simeulue District, looked dazed, but was still able to communicate with residents and Basarnas officers.
He said the victim was found by officers about two to three kilometers from the national road to be precise in Kahad Village, Central Simeulue District, Simeulue Regency, Aceh.
After being found, the victim Jamaluddin, who was suspected of having a mental disorder, was then evacuated by residents and Basarnas officers, who were then handed over to the family.
"Because the condition of the victim still looks dazed, we suggest that the victim be treated to a mental hospital," he said.
His party advised the victim to be treated at the hospital, in order to anticipate unwanted things happening to the victim, including the possibility of missing again as happened on Tuesday (3/5).
