The National Police Chief Says The Queue At Merak Port Has Been Unraveled, Only 3 Kilometers Left

BANTEN - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the queue at Merak Port had begun to unravel. Currently, only the queue is only 3 kilometers left.

Originally, there had been a long queue at Merak Harbor for 6 kilometers on Friday, April 29, early in the morning.

"Right now, the queue is reduced to 3 kilometers," said Listyo at the KM 70 Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, Friday, April 29.

The breakdown of the traffic jam has been observed since this afternoon. Vehicles queuing from the direction of Jakarta began to decrease after several attempts were made.

The way to do this includes shifting the dock load, especially for logistics carriers, to a quieter port area. Then, shorten the loading and unloading time from one hour to 45 minutes.

"Specifically the two piers only lift and transport passengers to Bakauheni, in Bakauheni they do not load and immediately return to the Merak area. So that the density in Merak, especially piers 1-7, which are already full of people, can immediately melt away," said Sigit.

Previously, it was reported that the Banten Police implemented a road closure system in the Cikuasa Atas and Cikuasa Bawah areas, Merak Banten on Friday, April 29, noon. The effort was made to follow up on the queue situation and the density of vehicles going to the ship at Merak Harbor, Cilegon City.

The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Kombes Shinto Silitonga, said the situation was based on CCTV monitoring of the Merak Port Integrated Post at 12.30 WIB today.

"Exactly today is the peak of the homecoming flow, monitored since 12.00 WIB along 5 km of density from Km 94 to Merak Toll Gate, then there is also density on the arterial route along 9.2 km from Simpang Grogol to Merak Port," said Shinto.
