Rumors Of Quartararo To Honda Are Getting Louder, Yamaha Chooses Oliveira
JAKARTA - Ahead of the 2022 Spanish MotoGP, a number of rumors of the transfer of the riders continue to blow hard. One of them, about the future of Fabio Quartararo at the Yamaha factory.
The French rider has yet to determine clarity in his current team. Despite having received an offer of a contract extension from the Japanese factory team, El Diablo has not made a decision.
Quartararo is still hanging on a decision because it is reported that he is not satisfied with the salary offer given by Yamaha. The unstable financial condition due to the pandemic made Yamaha unable to meet Quartararo's request for a salary increase.
Quoted from Marca, Thursday, Quartararo's manager, Eric Mahe, claimed to have held talks with three MotoGP factory teams, namely Ducati, Suzuki and Honda. But Honda is the team most likely to get Quartararo.
Meanwhile, it is believed that Ducati will choose Jorge Martin or Enea Bastianini to accompany Francesco Bagnaia in MotoGP 2023. Meanwhile, Suzuki's priority is to keep the duo Joan Mir and Alex Rins.
Meanwhile, the Honda manufacturer has not yet extended Pol Espargaro's contract. Repsol Honda Team Director Alberto Puig said a decision on Pol Espargaro's future would be taken in June 2022.
However, reflecting on Espargaro's poor performance to the Portuguese MotoGP, it actually reduced the chances of Aleix Espargaro's younger brother staying at Honda.
If it is true that Quartararo can be the answer for Honda, then the French racer is believed to be a suitable teammate for Marc Marquez.
If Quartararo said goodbye, Yamaha also had other plans. The manufacturer is claimed to have held talks with Paulo Oliveira, the father and agent of KTM racer Miguel Oliveira.
Oliveira is Yamaha's favorite rider for a long time. The Portuguese rider is even still delaying a contract extension with KTM in order to maintain the opportunity to leave the Austrian team.
However, to get the target rider, Yamaha had to work hard. The reason is, KTM CEO Stefan Pierer is allegedly going to try his best to keep Oliveira.
