Sadio Mane Now Holds Liverpool's Top Scorer Predicate In The Champions League Knock-out Round
JAKARTA - Midfielder Sadio Mane managed to occupy the top scorer position for Liverpool in the Champions League knockout stages. Mane won the feat after scoring one goal in the Reds' 2-0 win over Villarreal.
In the match at Anfield Stadium, Thursday, April 28, WIB, Mane became the only goal scorer for the Reds in the 55th minute. While one other goal was the result of an own goal Pervis Estupinan when the game was running 53 minutes.
Quoted from Champions League social media, with that goal, Mane has scored four Champions League goals this season. This Senegalese footballer even established himself as Liverpool's top scorer in the knockout stages throughout the history of the Champions League era with 14 goals.
With this number, Mane is three goals ahead of Mohamed Salah (11 goals) who occupies the second position. The third position and so on are filled with Roberto Firmino (10), Steven Gerrard (6), Dirk Kuyt (5), Luis Garcia (5), and Fernando Torres (5).
