4.8 Magnitude Earthquake In Sukabumi, BMKG Urges Residents To Be Careful
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the impact of the earthquake in Sukabumi Regency, West Java, was felt in southern Cianjur, Garut to Pangandaran.
The BMKG through a statement on its official website, Tuesday, April 26, monitored in Jakarta, noted that the epicenter of the 4.8 magnitude earthquake was in the sea 56 kilometers southeast of Sukabumi Regency, with a depth of 25 kilometers.
The time of the earthquake was recorded at 00.01 WIB on April 26, 2022 with coordinates 7.48 South Latitude - 106.68 East Longitude. According to the BMKG, the impact of the earthquake was felt on the Mercal scale (MMI) II - III in Sukabumi, II - III in South Cianjur, II in Garut and II in Pangandaran. As for the strength of the MMI II earthquake, it meant that several people felt vibrations, light objects that were hung swaying. While the MMI III earthquake means that the earthquake vibration is felt real in the house and the vibration feels as if a truck has passed.
BMKG also advised the public to be careful of the potential for aftershocks.
