Bringing Up The Potential For Congestion, DIY Police Make Sure Not To Block The Flow Of Homecoming At The Border

YOGYAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of the Yogyakarta Special Regional Police (DIY) has ensured that there will be no blocking and inspection of vehicles at regional borders during the momentum of going home and behind Eid 2022.

"We will not carry out a thorough inspection so that we terminate everyone. That is counterproductive," said Director of Traffic and Traffic of the Yogyakarta Police, Kombes Iwan Saktiadi, when contacted in Yogyakarta, Antara, Friday, April 22.

According to Iwan, blocking vehicles when going home can actually cause congestion that disrupts the smooth flow of traffic.

According to him, traffic congestion during Eid 2022 in Yogyakarta is unavoidable because it is estimated that as many as 3.9 million homecomers will visit or cross the DIY area.

Especially for tourist destinations in DIY, according to him, it is estimated that no less than 500 to 1 million people will visit during Eid 2022.

"Well, like this, it's impossible for us to stop the vehicle, while the volume of the vehicle is like that," he said.

However, Iwan said that checking the booster vaccine card or the third dose as a requirement for travelers remains random at a certain point. The examination, he said, would adjust the situation on the ground in coordination with the DIY Health Office.

"Of course we will see the situation in the field, for example it can be implemented in tourist attractions. For example, randomly, randomly," he said.

Therefore, he appealed to the public to continue to complete travel requirements by carrying out booster or booster vaccines to keep COVID-19 cases sloping.

According to him, the Yogyakarta Regional Police have also coordinated with the health offices of all districts to open booster vaccine services for travellers.

"If you have a booster, there is no obligation for PCR or antigen," he said.

To ensure the safety of the Lebaran 2022 homecoming, the DIY Regional Police will set up 14 security posts for all homecoming routes and 8 special service posts in tourist areas.

Previously, the Head of the DIY Transportation Agency, Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti, predicted that the volume of vehicles entering the DIY area would increase by around 19 to 20 percent compared to Eid 2019 in line with the elimination of the ban on people going home during the pandemic.

The homecomers, according to Made, are expected to start arriving after April 20 until they peak on April 28, 2022 the night or the day before the public holiday.
