Want To Bring Home The Medal From The SEA Games Hanoi, Putri KW: Try To Play Well And Don't Want To Lose
JAKARTA - Indonesian women's singles badminton player Putri Kusuma Wardani hopes to bring home a medal when making her debut at the SEA Games Hanoi 2021 later.
"I want to get gold, but if you see the opponent is good. So, step by step, hopefully you can get a medal," said Putri KW at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, East Jakarta, on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
Putri KW and her friends who will go to Hanoi have undergone quite good preparations. However, there are still minor shortcomings that must be addressed.
In addition, they also still have to undergo heavy physical and technical training before leaving for the biennial event.
Putri said that apart from the training and preparation she had done, she was also nervous because the debutants were coming in the Southeast Asian region. In addition, he predicts the toughest opponents in Hanoi later, namely his colleagues at the National Training Center.
"So I just tried to try to play well, with opponents who (level) above are more enthusiastic and don't want to lose," he said.
Appearing in the SEA Games made Putri KW have to suppress her dream of playing in the Uber Cup which was held close by. In fact, he had the desire to be able to play again after making his debut last year.
"Last year was good, but later the same opponent will continue to show it again. Maybe I can win against them," said Putri.
Unlike the men's team, the women's team for the Hanoi SEA Games will field full strength. Apart from Putri KW, names such as Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Apriyani Rahayu were also included in the list of the Red and White teams.
The 2021 SEA Games Vietnam will take place on May 12-23 in Hanoi and surrounding cities. Including badminton, Indonesia has sent a total of 497 athletes from 32 sports to the event which is entering its 31st edition.
