Anticipating A Surge In Travelers, East Java Governor Khafifah Prepares For Provincial Road Conditions
JAKARTA - The condition of road stability in East Java province has reached 89.61 percent. This means that East Java is ready to ensure the smooth running of homecoming travelers to welcome Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah.
"The East Java Provincial Government is making maximum efforts to support the smooth running of Lebaran homecoming this year," said East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 15.
The road sections under the authority of the province of East Java reach 1,421 kilometers and the length of the bridge is 10,870 meters.
Meanwhile, from a total of 89.61 percent of road stability, the details are 57.74 percent in good condition, 31.84 percent in moderate condition, then 7.13 percent in light damage and 3.26 percent in severe damage.
The East Java Provincial Government also specifically ordered the East Java Bina Marga Public Works Department to make thorough preparations.
Such as, said Khofifah, ensuring provincial roads are in good condition for travelers to pass, anticipating disaster-prone areas and the readiness of personnel and heavy equipment.
Meanwhile, for disaster-prone locations, the former Minister of Social Affairs said that the East Java Public Works Department of Highways has also carried out mapping.
The number one person in the East Java Provincial Government explained that there are several areas prone to flooding and landslides that travelers must be wary of.
For flood-prone areas, he continued, they are in the border area of Bojonegoro-Pajeng City in Bojonegoro Regency, Pakah-Ponco in Tuban Regency, Arjosari-Purwantoro in Pacitan Regency.
Then, the boundaries of Situbondo Regency and Bondowoso City boundaries, Trunojoyo Street in Ponorogo Regency, Imam Bonjol Street and Sampang-Omben in Sampang Regency.
Meanwhile, for landslide-prone locations, among others, in the Babat area to the boundaries of Jombang Regency, Jalan Raya Cangar and Jalan Trunojoyo in Batu City, the boundaries of Magetan-Cemorosewu City, Magetan Regency, and Arjosari-Purwantoro in Pacitan Regency.
According to Khofifah, with the geographical location of East Java which has many mountains and highlands, there are areas that are prone to landslides.
"For this reason, we ask future travelers to be careful when crossing this road. I also ask for warning signs to be installed in landslide-prone areas," said the first female governor in East Java.
Khofifah added that currently on the provincial road there is also one damaged and impassable bridge, namely the Kutorejo Bridge.
This bridge connects Bojonegoro Regency with Nganjuk Regency and results in the disconnection of provincial road access.
"But people should not worry, because during Eid later, there is a bailey bridge that can be passed, but not for heavy vehicles. Vehicles such as trucks are directed to alternative roads," said Khofifah.
