President Jokowi Receives Visit From Monash University Indonesia Chancellor

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo received a visit from the Chancellor of Monash University Indonesia, Prof. Andrew MacIntyre at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, who conveyed a number of progress of his leadership institutions in Indonesia.

MacIntyre came accompanied by a number of other Monash University officials such as the Vice Chancellor Prof. Margaret Gardner and Chief Operating Officer Tantia Dian Permata Indah.

"We had a very positive meeting with the President, we got very strong encouragement and he spoke very enthusiastically about the progress we have made," said Prof. MacIntyre delivered a statement after a meeting with President Jokowi reported by Antara, Thursday, April 14.

Prof. MacIntyre explained that one of the points emphasized in the discussion with the President was the importance of partnerships with other Indonesian universities, Indonesian companies and Indonesian government agencies at various levels.

"Because our common goal is to contribute to Indonesia's success," he added.

Meanwhile Prof. Gardner said that his party is happy to be accepted by President Jokowi, who has always shown support for the expansion of higher education in Indonesia.

Gardner also expressed his gratitude for the support from the Head of State and the Indonesian government to Monash University Indonesia as the first foreign university in Indonesia.

"We are very grateful for the President's support and the Indonesian government's support for Monash University Indonesia to become the first foreign university in Indonesia, and we discussed with him future plans and how we will contribute to Indonesia," said Prof. Gardner.

President Jokowi also expects Monash University Indonesia's real contribution in developing human resources (HR) and digital transformation, said COO Tantia.

"This is one of our main goals as Monash University Indonesia to realize these challenges and in line with the challenges faced by the government," said Tantia.
