Emphasizes No Delay, KSP Asks KPU And Bawaslu To Immediately Mitigate Election Problems In 2024

JAKARTA - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) has asked the members of the General Election Commission and the Election Supervisory Body who have just been inaugurated to immediately mitigate the problems of the 2024 General Election, such as budget sufficiency and vulnerability to social conflicts.

"The election must give more hope to the public that the election is a civilized political contestation," said Deputy IV Presidential Chief of Staff Juri Ardiantoro in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 11.

He mentioned various problems that often arise in the implementation, including technical problems, such as election regulations, the high workload of the entire election administration, budget needs, and vulnerability to social and political conflicts.

"Mitigation is carried out to improve the quality and integrity of the 2024 election so that the election is no longer just a five-year political ceremony," he said, quoted by Antara.

The jury said the election must produce people's representatives and people's leaders who truly represent the interests of the people. Therefore, it is important that the implementation of the election is not only technically smooth but with quality and integrity.

He assessed that members of the KPU and Bawaslu 2022-2027 need to create election procedures to limit incompetent people and lack integrity from participating in election contestations without limiting one's political rights.

"Of course, the hope is that the election will produce representatives and leaders who are close to their voters, have a clean, competent, and visionary track record," he said.

Today President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated Betty Epsilon Idroos, Hasyim Asy'ari, Mochammad Afifuddin, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik, and August Mellaz as members of the KPU for the 2022-2027 period based on Presidential Decree No. 33 P of 2022 dated March 21, 2022.
