Kurt Cobain's Guitar In Smells Like Teen Spirit Video To Be Auctioned
JAKARTA - Another Kurt Cobain item that will be auctioned to the public. This time, the guitar he played in Nirvana's 1991 music video Smells Like Teen Spirit is up for auction next month.
A 1969 Fender Mustang guitar will be included in the three-day Julien's Auctions event. This event is made for Music Icons which will be held from 20-22 May both offline and online.
Launching NME, Cobain's guitar is projected to be auctioned for $600,000. It is known that this Fender Mustang is Kurt Cobain's favorite guitar.
“I'm left-handed and it's not easy to find a left handed guitar of high quality and reasonable price. Of all the guitars in the world, the Fender Mustang is my favourite," said Kurt Cobain.
Julien's Auction CEO, Darren Julien expressed his pride in holding this guitar auction.
"This is a guitar of historical importance and significance not only for the legacy of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana but also in the history of rock music," said Darren Julien, calling it a rarity.
In addition to the Fender Mustang, another Cobain guitar - a blue 195 Dodge Dart is also up for auction. There is also a license that states this guitar belongs to Cobain and Courtney Love.
Not only the goods, Julien's Auctions also prepared an exclusive NFT. The auctioned guitar will be available as an NFT containing narration from Cobain's guitar technician, Earnie Baily.
Last year, an image of Cobain and six strands of the Nirvana frontman's hair was sold through Julien's Auction.
