Please Be Patient, Said The Regent Of Bantul To His Citizens In Response To The Rising Prices Of Goods

JAKARTA - The Regent of Bantul, Yogyakarta, Abdul Halim Muslih, asked the people in this district to remain calm when the prices of goods are rising quite high.

"Yes, inflation is common in any world due to the increase in the price of production factors. BBM (fuel oil) is a strategic production factor. Let's face it patiently, God willing, soon, the situation will recover," said the Regent, Monday, April 11, as quoted from Antara.

The price of fuel which has been adjusted to the current market price will certainly have an impact on the movement of prices for other basic goods. Automatically the cost of production, transportation, and distribution of goods also rose.

"Of course, this (fuel) will push up other prices, this is something that usually happens in any part of the world. The important thing is that inflation is under control, price increases cannot be avoided but we can control it," he said.

The Regent said that one way to control price increases for basic commodities, such as cooking oil, is to conduct market operations with the government.

"For example, if there is a shortage of cooking oil, we will operate the market. God willing, we will soon carry out market operations," said Halim.

The Regent said the district government would also cooperate with law enforcement officials to take firm action against anyone or anyone who hoards cooking oil, because it is an inhumane crime.

"How come there are people like this who play around, hoard things. For example, if there is, we all encourage appreciation for what the police have done to take action against these inhumane crimes," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bantul Cooperative, SME, Industry and Trade Office, Agus Sulistiyana, said the prices for a number of basic necessities had increased, including chicken eggs, sugar, soybeans and cooking oil, as well as fuel.

"Yes, as the Regent said earlier, that fuel will have an impact on increasing the prices of other basic goods," he said.
