Alphonso Davies Says Ronaldo Deserves To Wear The MU Captain's Armband Instead Of Maguire

JAKARTA - Bayern Munich player Alphonso Davies disagrees with the Manchester United captain's armband being given to Harry Maguire. The Canadian player judged that Cristiano Ronaldo was more deserving of wearing it.

The 21-year-old said this while streaming FIFA on Twitch and getting Maguire in one package. According to him, Ronaldo deserves the captain's armband for the Red Devils.

"Can you imagine. You are Ronaldo, one of the greatest players ever and what is your captain's name? Harry Maguire is your captain?" he said, reported by Give Me Sport.

"I don't know what he [Ronaldo] told him [Maguire]. Bro, I don't hate Harry Maguire, but Ronaldo should get the captain's armband," he continued.

Maguire has faced strong criticism for his subpar performances at the club. He has made a number of big mistakes this season at a time when the club is still outside the top four or has yet to earn a place in the Champions League qualifying zone for next season.

The 39-year-old defender made an excellent showing for England en route to last summer's Euro 2020 final. However, that appearance declined significantly in the 2021/2022 season campaign.

As a result he has come under constant criticism from supporters of the Red Devils. Many said he did not perform to the standard expected of a United captain.

Despite being the object of criticism, Maguire is still believed to be the captain. Both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick have no intention of relinquishing Maguire's armband and handing it to Ronaldo.

Moreover, Portugal international players can be leaders as well as set an example for their colleagues. In addition, he has also captained the Portugal national team since 2008 and guided them to victory at the 2016 European Cup.
