Angelina Sondakh Often Appears In Public, KPK: Convey A Message Don't Join Corruption
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) hopes that former corruption convicts, including Angelina Sondakh or Angie, will carry an anti-corruption message for the community and those around them.
This was conveyed by the Acting Spokesperson for the KPK for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, responding to Angie's appearance on a number of television shows. Angie is a former Democrat Party politician who was caught in a corruption case at the athlete's homestead.
"We hope that former corruption convicts can convey messages, inviting the public not to commit or be involved in corruption," said Ali in a written statement quoted on Thursday, April 7.
Angie and other ex-convicts, continued Ali, can also provide a deterrent effect to the community by telling their experiences. So, people will think twice about doing corrupt practices.
"Because criminal penalties for corruption have a real deterrent effect, not only for the perpetrators but also for their families, relatives, and the surrounding environment," he said.
Angelina Sondakh has appeared in public several times through television shows and through videos uploaded on YouTube that tell of her daily life.
Most recently, when interviewed on a private television station, he admitted that he was trapped and sacrificed during the Hambalang corruption case.
It didn't stop there, Angie, Angelina Sondakh's nickname, also said that the act of corruption she had committed could not be done alone. However, he did not want to talk further about who the person in question was.
Angie only asked the public to be able to take lessons from the corruption case that had ensnared her.
Previously reported, Angelina Sondakh or Angie had breathed free air from the Pondok Bambu Jakarta Women's Correctional Institution (Lapas) on Thursday, March 3. He was released after serving a 10-year sentence.
Angie has been in prison since 27 April 2012. She was found guilty of being involved in a corruption case in the construction of the 2011 SEA Games Athlete's House in Palembang.
For his actions, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million. Not only that, Angie was required to pay a replacement fee of Rp. 2.5 billion and US$ 1.2 million, a subsidiary for 4 months and 5 days.
Of the amount to be paid, he just paid a fine of Rp 500 million. Meanwhile, for the replacement money, Angie has paid Rp8,815,972,772 and the remaining Rp4,538,027,278 was replaced with a prison sentence of 4 months and 5 days.
