JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) hopes that former corruption convicts, including Angelina Sondakh or Angie, will carry an anti-corruption message for the community and those around them.

This was conveyed by the Acting Spokesperson for the KPK for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, responding to Angie's appearance on a number of television shows. Angie is a former Democrat Party politician who was caught in a corruption case at the athlete's homestead.

"We hope that former corruption convicts can convey messages, inviting the public not to commit or be involved in corruption," said Ali in a written statement quoted on Thursday, April 7.

Angie and other ex-convicts, continued Ali, can also provide a deterrent effect to the community by telling their experiences. So, people will think twice about doing corrupt practices.

"Because criminal penalties for corruption have a real deterrent effect, not only for the perpetrators but also for their families, relatives, and the surrounding environment," he said.

Angelina Sondakh has appeared in public several times through television shows and through videos uploaded on YouTube that tell of her daily life.
