PEKANBARU - The Pekanbaru Class I Agricultural Quarantine Center will investigate the information submitted by the Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service of Riau Province regarding the illegal shipment of cattle from abroad to Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) Regency.
Acting Head of Pekanbaru Class I Agricultural Quarantine Center Apep said that his party first collected evidence to investigate the report on the alleged illegal cattle smuggling.
"I also just received information from the Head of the Livestock Service Office that there was an illegal shipment of cattle from abroad. However, we need further investigation. We first collect evidence, investigate whether it is true that these cattle were trafficked from abroad," Apep said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday. , April 6th.
If it is proven, he said, action will be taken against the perpetrators in accordance with the legal umbrella, namely Law No. 21 of 2019 against the perpetrators.
"If proven, there will be action through the investigation that we carried out according to the procedure against the perpetrator. Because it violates the law, there is a serious threat to the perpetrators who commit violations," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service of Riau, Herman, said that illegal cattle shipments from abroad to Inhil were smuggled through water areas. This is considered to have exacerbated the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) outbreak which is currently attacking livestock in Riau. "Yes, that's the information, Inhil was sent from abroad," he said.
