Had Soaked Residents' Settlements, Tangerang City Government Will Normalize Sabi River

BANTEN - Tangerang City Government Banten in the near future will normalize the Sabi River to anticipate the flood disaster that had inundated residents' settlements.

"It is absolutely necessary to normalize the Sabi River. The PUPR Service will take steps to anticipate flooding and inundation if it rains," said Mayor Arief after visiting the Sabi River in Cibodas, Antara, Wednesday, April 6.

On Tuesday, April 5, there was heavy rain in the Greater Tangerang area. The Tangerang City BPBD noted that there were 17 areas affected by the flood.

The mayor also asked the PUPR Service to check the pump so that it can be used when there is an inundation or overflow from a river or river.

"And make repairs and upgrades if the embankment seeps or is not high enough to prevent the water from overflowing," said Arief accompanied by the head of the PUPR Service, Ruta Ireng.

In addition, Mayor Arief also inspected the reservoir at the Cimone Mas Permai Housing. The PUPR Service will carry out dredging so that it can accommodate more water.

"We will also normalize the Cisarung water channel, the equipment is being prepared," he said.

The head of the PUPR Service, Ruta Ireng, said that the officers immediately cleaned the canal that caused the puddle. Likewise with the cleaning of garbage in the river (river) which hinders the flow of water.

"We immediately move to handle the points that are priority in anticipating the occurrence of high-intensity rain," he said.
