Needdem: Election Justice According To IDEA, Community Participation Required

JAKARTA - Member of the Board of Trustees of the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem) Titi Anggraini assesses that general elections in the country must be in accordance with The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA).

In IDEA, electoral justice is an important instrument to enforce the law and fully guarantee the implementation of democratic principles through the implementation of free, honest and fair elections.

Titi said this when she was a speaker at the Global Network on Electoral Justice (GNEJ) Asia Regional forum entitled "Asia Regional Discussion on Trends and Challenges of Electoral Justice", as monitored through the RI Bawaslu YouTube channel, in Jakarta, Friday 1 April.

"In addition to strengthening the electoral justice institution, the thing that should not be forgotten to uphold election justice is to expand access for the public to be involved and participate in it," Titi said, quoting Antara.

In addition, according to him, literacy of the community related to election justice also needs to be strengthened by the organizers and election supervisors or other related parties to ensure the implementation of an honest, fair, and democratic democratic party.

Furthermore, through the enforcement of electoral justice, a country means that it has ensured that every action, procedure, and decision related to the electoral process is in accordance with the legal framework. Then, electoral justice also means that the state protects or restores the voting rights of every citizen.

In addition, the enforcement of electoral justice opens the opportunity for every citizen who believes that their right to vote has been violated to file a complaint, attend a trial, and get a verdict.

Furthermore, Titi appealed to civil society groups to always synergize with the organizers or election supervisors, such as the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia and the General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of the Republic of Indonesia in carrying out innovations to ensure an honest and fair election.

"Civil society must also collaborate and continue to encourage election organizers and supervisors to innovate and make breakthroughs in ensuring honest and fair elections," he said.
