Descendants Of The PKI List Of The TNI Are Considered More Homeland, NasDem Legislators: Than Those Who Make A Fuss
JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the House of Representatives from the NasDem faction, Hillary Brigitta Lasut, assessed that the decision by the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, to allow PKI descendants to register for the selection of prospective soldiers, was correct.
According to him, participating in the selection to become the TNI is a human right as an Indonesian citizen, regardless of background.
"Human rights are inherent to every human being, no matter who their descendants are, no matter what blood they come from, because all citizens, all humans have human rights, the right to live, the right to assemble, the right to determine one's destiny is actually inherent in oneself. ," Hillary told reporters on Friday, April 1.
The NasDem legislator for the North Sulawesi electoral district reminded that descendants of the PKI should not be branded ugly and should not be debated. Because they can't choose their lineage.
"A person shouldn't be blamed for an action he or she didn't do, let alone endure something that wasn't really their responsibility," Hillary said.
If there is a descendant of the PKI who has registered with the TNI, according to him, that person has dared to risk his life for the sake of the nation and state.
"It's the same as he has made amends for all the mistakes of his previous descendants, who then carried out bad politics," continued Hillary.
Hillary actually appreciates if descendants of the PKI join the TNI. He said it was more Homeland than those who were not descendants of the PKI but liked to just make a fuss.
"That's why Indonesia is farther away than people who so far claim to be not members of the PKI family but are cursing each other, bringing each other down, making noise, causing destruction," he said.
"So in my opinion, it's everyone's human right. We should support it because after all, human rights are for individuals, not for blood lineage and so on," added Hillary.
