Valid From Tomorrow, Pertamina Dex BBM Equivalent To Euro IV Is Ready For Sale
JAKARTA - The government is improving the current fuel specifications, through the implementation of standards and quality (specifications) for Solar 51 type fuel with a sulfur content of 50 ppm (equivalent to Euro IV) under the trade name Pertamina Dex. PT Pertamina (Persero) will sell the fuel starting Friday, April 1, 2022 in all parts of Indonesia.
"The exhaust gas emissions of vehicles using this type of fuel will certainly be cleaner, which will further improve air quality to be cleaner and healthier and significantly contribute to supporting Indonesia's energy transition program," said Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji in a written statement that quoted Thursday 31 March.
The implementation of the Solar 51 type of fuel equivalent to Euro IV, he continued, was a follow-up to the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number P.20/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/3/2017 of 2017 dated April 7, 2017 concerning Vehicle Exhaust Emission Quality Standards. New Type Category M, Category N and Category O, as well as Letter of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number S-786/MENLHK-PPKL/SET/PKL-3/5/2020 dated May 20, 2020 regarding Postponement of Application of Diesel Motor Exhaust Emissions.
In this regulation, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) requires every business and/or production activity of a new type of four-wheeled or more motorized vehicle to meet the provisions of the Exhaust Emission Quality Standard, which tests are carried out using diesel fuel with the following parameters: Cetane Number (CN) minimum 51, sulfur content max. 50 ppm and a viscosity of 2-4.5 mm2/s, will take effect on April 7, 2022.
In line with this, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through the Director General of Oil and Gas stipulates the Decree of the Director General of Oil and Gas Number 146.K/10/DJM/2020 concerning Standards and Quality (Specifications) of Diesel Fuel Types that are Marketed Domestically. In the Director General's decree, all business entities that market the type of Solar 51 fuel in Indonesia are required to meet the minimum CN 51 requirements, maximum sulfur content of 50 ppm and viscosity at a temperature of 400C at least 2-4.5 mm2/s as of April 1, 2022.
"In the process of compiling standards and quality (specifications) for fuel, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas considers aspects of technological development, producer capabilities, consumer capabilities and needs, occupational safety and health and environmental management," he continued.
For this reason, the process of preparing fuel standards involves various stakeholders, including representatives from the government, fuel producers, fuel consumers, associations, and academia.
To ensure the quality of fuel marketed domestically, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas also routinely supervises fuel standards and quality (specifications) through fuel sampling and testing of these fuel samples, to ensure that commercial enterprises has implemented regulatory provisions and has also provided quality assurance to the fuel user community.
"PT Pertamina (Persero) as a State-Owned Enterprise has made a major contribution through the efforts made by PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional and PT Pertamina Patra Niaga to be able to provide diesel fuel types in accordance with applicable regulations, where through good coordination carried out with the Government, GAIKINDO and related parties, starting April 1, 2022 Pertamina is ready to market Solar 51 equivalent to EURO IV under the trade name Pertamina Dex," concluded Tutuka.
