'Finally..', Hamudin's Expression Of Gratitude After 23 Years As An Honorary Teacher And Now Changing Status
JAKARTA - A total of 367 honorary teachers in Balikpapan were inaugurated as Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) at Balikpapan City Hall.
"Finally," said Hamudin, 54 years old.
Hamudin is a teacher at SMP Negeri 1 Balikpapan who is one of the hundreds of teachers who were appointed.
Hamudin understands that the 60-year retirement period is only 6 years away. Therefore he promised to maximize his service.

Meanwhile, there were 380 honorary people who passed the test to become PPPK this year. However, there are 13 people who have not finished the administrative process so they will be inaugurated on separate occasions.
The honorary teachers who were inducted into the PPK were assigned as classroom teachers, physical education teachers, sports and health, and subject teachers in schools in Balikpapan.
Hamudin said that he had been an honorary teacher since 1999. He also took the Civil Servant Candidate (CPNS) test but did not pass. But he never gave up on taking the test. He also believes that his hope is that by becoming a teacher, the welfare of the PPPK will be better.
Starting in 2019, the honorarium for teachers in the Balikpapan City Education and Culture Office was Rp. 2.7 million to Rp. 3 million.
“The honorary teacher at the Elementary School (SD) level, which was previously only Rp. 1.3 million, has increased to Rp. 2.7 million per month. Then the honorary teacher which was previously Rp. 1.8 million to Rp. 2.7 million per month. The budget comes from the City Budget," said Head of the Balikpapan City Education and Culture Office, Muhaimin on a separate occasion.
The number of honorary teachers recorded by the Department of Education and Culture is 1,300 people for elementary and junior high school levels. They were recruited to meet the shortage of teachers.
