The Attorney General's Office Examines 3 Witnesses From Kominfo Related To The Ministry Of Defense Satellite Corruption Case

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Connectivity Investigation Team examined three witnesses from the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) related to the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement project for the 123 Degree East Longitude Orbit Satellite at the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) in 2012-2021.

The three witnesses had the initials DS as Director of Resource Management at the Directorate General of SDPPI Kominfo, MBS (former Director General of SDPPI Kominfo for the period 2011-2016) and M (former Director of Standardization, Postal Equipment & Information Technology of the Directorate General of Communications and Informatics in 2010-2020.

"The three of them are being investigated in connection with the alleged corruption case in the procurement of the 123 degree East Longitude (BT) Orbit Satellite at the Ministry of Defense in 2012-2021," said the Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Ketut Sumedana in a written statement, Monday, 28 March.

In addition to the three witnesses from Kominfo, connectivity investigators also examined one witness with the initials TW as Director of PT DNK in 2004—2015. Witness TW was examined on Thursday (24/3).

The four witnesses were examined after the handling of the case was completed in a connected manner because it involved elements from the military and civilians.

The Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General's Office has transferred the case of alleged criminal acts of corruption to the Ministry of Defense Satellite (Jampidmil) in accordance with the order of Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin, Monday (14/2), to be handled with integrity.

According to Ketut, the examination of witnesses is to strengthen evidence and to complete the filing in the case.

In this case, the Attorney General's Office banned three people from leaving the country. All three came from the civil (private) element, namely the President Director of PT Dini Nusa Kusuma (DNK) and the Ministry of Defense Expert Team with the initials SW, then AW as the President Director of PT DNK.

Another person is a foreign citizen, namely Thomas Van Der Heyden. The ban on Thomas was suggested by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI).

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD at a press conference on Thursday (13/1) said the Ministry of Communication and Information had issued a decision on the right to use Indonesian satellite filling at 123 degree orbit for Garuda-2 and Nusantara satellite filings. A1-A to PT DNK.

On December 10, 2018, Kominfo issued a decision regarding the right to use the Indonesian satellite filing at Orbit 123 degrees east longitude for the filling of the Garuda-2 and Nusantara A1-A satellites to PT DNK. However, PT DNK was not able to resolve the problem of the Ministry of Defense's residue in the procurement of the Defense Communications Satellite (Satkomhan).
