Minutes Of Playing Are Minimal, Shin Tae-yong's Reason For Lobbying Coach Ansan Greeners To Leave Asnawi To The SEA Games

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong is trying to persuade Ansan Greeners coach, Cho Min Kook to want to release Asnawi Mangkualam to the Indonesian national team when he appears at the 2022 SEA Games in Vietnam in May.

This was done by Shin Tae-yong when he was directly present at Gwangyang Stadium, South Korea, watching the Ansan Greeners match against Jeonnam Dragons in the second tier of the South Korean League K League 2, last Saturday, March 26.

Through the latest upload on his Instagram account, Shin Tae-yong revealed that his presence at Gwangyang Stadium was intentional. The South Korean coach admitted that he persuaded Cho Min Kook.

"I came to Jeonnam Stadium for a meeting with coach Cho so Asnawi can be summoned to the SEA Games," wrote Shin Tae-yong via his personal Instagram.

As evidence that Shin Tae-yong visited Asnawi in person, the coach also shared a group photo. Both Shin Tae-yong and Asnwi looked very familiar as they smiled in unison.

For the SEA Games in Vietnam on May 12-24, Shin Tae-yong is projected to make Asnawi the captain of the U-23 Indonesian national team. However, the 2022 SEA Games schedule that clashes with the K League 2 agenda could make Asnawi fail to strengthen the Garuda Muda team because Ansan will most likely not let him go.

On the other hand, Shin Tae-yong's intention to bring Asnawi to the SEA Games was due to the minimal playing time at Ansan. Under the tutelage of Cho Min Kook, Asnawi's playing time is relatively low. It was the opposite when Ansan Greeners was still being trained by Kim Gil Sik.

Together with Cho Min Kook, Asnawi has only appeared four times out of the seven matches the team has gone through in K League 2. The total of four appearances was only 41 minutes.

Asnawi also only started once, namely when Ansan faced Gwangju. However, at that time he was also immediately replaced in the 25th minute.

Apart from that, Shin Tae-yong's presence at Gwangyang Stadium was also to witness the appearance of his second son, Shin Jae Hyuk. Jae Hyuk is currently also playing for Ansan and he was the goalscorer in this 1-1 draw.

"Please watch my 2nd child debut this year," wrote Shin Tae-yong adding.

Not only that, Shin Tae-yong's presence in South Korea is also to escort the U-19 national team troops who are focused on undergoing training camps.
