Alleged Bad Credit Corruption, MAKI Reports Bank Banten To Police
BANTEN - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) reported allegations of corruption related to bad loans worth Rp65 billion at Bank Banten. The report was submitted to the Banten Police on Friday, March 25
"We have forwarded complaints from the public to the Banten Police regarding the alleged corruption in bad loans at Bank Banten with the debtor or borrower of PT HNM, which allegedly caused state finances of IDR 65 billion," said MAKI Coordinator Bonyamin when contacted, Saturday, March 26.
Boyamin explained, this bad credit case occurred in 2017-2018. Allegedly involving the son of a high official in Banten.
"MAKI noted that the bad credit case occurred at Bank Banten in 2017. It was suspected that the debtor was PT HNM, so it involved the son of a high-ranking official in Banten, because he had intervened to be given a loan," he said.
Boyamin said that the company was suspected to be unhealthy. In fact, since the beginning there have been many cases of bad credit at other banks.
He added that in the process of providing credit facilities, it was suspected that there had been problems since the initial application to finance the Pematang Toll road project for the STA 155+335 and 158+600 toll roads in Palembang, South Sumatra, as well as the capital for the purchase of six units of heavy equipment.
“From the first it was actually not worth getting a loan. It is suspected that PT HNM is only a sub-contractor, not the winner of the tender. Sub-contractors are also questionable. In addition, it is suspected that most of the equipment purchases went into personal accounts," he explained.
Boyamin assessed that the bad loans indicated that there was an evil collaboration between PT HMN and Bank Banten, which could harm the state's finances. Boyamin suspects that the bank was negligent and not careful in checking PT HMN's data and files before providing credit facilities.
"The loan is big, why is the guarantee in the form of SHM (certificate of title) of five land parcels, which turned out to be photocopies after being tracked down, not checked first. It should be suspected that if you look at the series of events there was a conspiracy or it should be suspected that there was black cooperation that could harm the state's finances," he said.
He emphasized that the Banten Police would not follow up on the report within three months. Then they will file a pretrial lawsuit.
"If in three months there is no progress report, at least for pulbaket there is no result, so I will sue the pretrial," he said.
