DPRD Chair Asks KPK To Summon Anies About Alleged Corruption In Formula E, Gerindra: We Trust KPK

JAKARTA - Member of the Gerindra faction of the DKI DPRD, Syarif, emphasized that he believed in the KPK's performance in investigating the alleged corruption of Formula E.

This statement responds to the desire of the Chairman of the DKI DPRD, Prasetyo Edi, for the KPK to also summon the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, for questioning.

"We trust the KPK. That's a matter for law enforcement, right. Run it. We support the KPK," said Syarif when met at the Formula E circuit construction site, Ancol, North Jakarta, Friday, March 25.

Meanwhile, Syarif is optimistic that the planned implementation of Formula E will not be disrupted by the legal investigation efforts that are being carried out by the anti-corruption agency.

"I also support that this work is completed and the race is running. The race was held on June 4 and the people were entertained. God willing (KPK examination) will not interfere (the process of organizing)," said Syarif.

Previously, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi reminded the KPK to be transparent in its investigation of alleged corruption in the implementation of the Formula E racing event.

Moreover, until now, the KPK has not summoned the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan for questioning. This request was made by Prasetyo after fulfilling the summons of KPK investigators on Tuesday, March 22.

"I appeal to the KPK to be transparent and accountable for this Formula E issue," Prasetyo told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada.

The PDI-P politician explained that he explained a number of things to investigators. One of them is related to the Rp180 billion paid by the DKI Jakarta Education and Sports Agency (Dispora) through a Bank DKI loan. Prasetyo emphasized that the legislators in Jakarta were not aware of the loan.

"Before becoming a Regional Regulation, borrow the Dispora to Bank DKI Rp. 180 billion. That's all the emphasis is there," he said.

During the examination, Prasetyo brought a number of documents. Including, Dispora's letter to the Governor of DKI which was then answered through Governor's Instruction Number 77 of 2019 concerning Support in Preparation for the Implementation of Formula E Activities in 2020.
