Probolinggo City Government Eliminates TB In 2030

PROBOLINGGO - Probolinggo City Government, East Java, is committed to eliminating Tuberculosis (TBC) by 2030, by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) involving various parties to carry out their respective roles in controlling this infectious disease.

The signing of the MoU was carried out by officials from Bappeda Litbang, Social Services P3A, Department of Communication and Information, Department of Education and Culture, Class II B Probolinggo Prison, Chairman of the Regional House of Representatives, Abdul Mujib, Mayor of Probolinggo represented by Government Assistant, Gogol Sudjarwo, and Health Service Population Control and Family Planning (PPKB), Dr. NH Hidayati, simultaneously with the commemoration of World TB Day at Puri Manggala Bhakti Probolinggo City, Friday, March 25.

"Indonesia is the country with the third-highest TB burden after India and China. Currently, it is one of eight countries that account for 2/3 of the world's TB cases", said Probolinggo City Administration Assistant Gogol Sudjarwo, when opening the event, quoted by Antara.

According to him, in 2021 it is estimated that there will be 800 people with TB in Probolinggo City, while the cure rate will reach 79.8 percent, which means that treatment is not optimal.

"To support the achievement of TB elimination in Indonesia, especially in Probolinggo City, we and several parties have signed an MoU to carry out their respective roles in controlling TB", he said.

He explained that the COVID-19 pandemic situation presents a new challenge for stakeholders to restore efforts to pursue TB elimination effectively.

"We must be optimistic, with strong synergy from all parties in Probolinggo City, we will be able to overcome health problems in the community so that we can improve the lives of residents because health is a joint investment", he said.

In addition to signing the MoU in controlling TB, the PPKB City Health Office of Probolinggo also held online and offline socialization which was attended by dozens of regional heads, PKK Mobilization Teams, mass organizations and representatives of professional organizations.

"The TB disease control program is a priority in the local government's minimum service standard in the health sector, so we held the socialization", said Head of the Probolinggo City PPKB Health Office, Dr. NH Hidayati.

She said the purpose of the activity was to strengthen and increase the participation of all parties or cross-sectoral governments, media, private parties, and communities, in the prevention and control of TB.

"Including the dissemination of quality information on prevention, transmission, examination, and treatment of TB", she said.
