Tangerang City Government Waits For Official Ministry Of Religion Regulations Regarding Ramadan Worship
TANGERANG - The Tangerang City Government (Pemkot) is still waiting for regulations from the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) regarding the rules of worship during the holy month of Ramadan.
However, the Mayor of Tangerang, Arief R Wismansayah, said that for now worship in his area is allowed to be close together. However, still comply with the health protocol (Prokes).
“Yesterday, in a meeting with MUI, they will issue a plan for the SE. But until now not yet, still waiting for a letter from the Ministry of Religion," said Arief when contacted, Friday, March 25.
"The government hasn't said it's normal, but it's preparing for a transition period to endemic. So, that's why there is an MUI fatwa for prayer, it is allowed for staff meetings, but still with the prokes," he added.
Arief said the implementation of the Tarawih and Eid prayers for now still follows the rules of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) with a capacity of 75 percent. This is because the area is still in the level of Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) level 2.
"If I'm not mistaken, we are still PPKM level 2, (meaning) it is still 75 percent. (So) we will follow the decision of the Minister of Home Affairs which is also socialized to the public," he explained
Regarding iftar activities that are often carried out by the community, Arief emphasized that his party still prohibits these activities. This prevents the spread of COVID-19.
"(Opening together) is not allowed, open houses are also not allowed," he said.
