Security For The Kuningan, South Jakarta LRT Project Catches Ojol Driver Stealing 44 Threaded Irons Worth IDR 2.5 Million

JAKARTA - An online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) was arrested by the Setiabudi Metro Police, South Jakarta, for the theft of 44 iron rods at the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project at Kuningan Station, South Jakarta. The perpetrator with the initials BIF was arrested by the authorities on Saturday, March 12, at around 20.00 WIB.

"The BIF suspect entered through the project fence which was not locked and then took the screw that was on the cast concrete and put it in a sack," said the Head of Criminal Investigation at the Setiabudi Metro Police, AKP Billy Gustiano Barman, in a written statement, Wednesday, March 23.

A total of 44 screwed iron rods with a diameter of 16 mm are known to be worth around Rp. 2.5 million.

However, the action of BIF, which was trying to steal the iron rods, was caught by two project security officers and immediately arrested the perpetrators.

"BIF suspects can be arrested by witnesses FNA and MI," said Billy.

Security officers then took and handed over the BIF suspect to the Setiabudi Metro Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, and made a police report regarding the incident.

During the arrest, the police also confiscated a number of screwed iron rods that the suspect wanted to steal and a black Honda Scoopy motorbike that the suspect wanted to use to carry his stolen goods.

For his actions, the suspect BIF is now detained at the Setiabudi Metro Police Headquarters and charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with a penalty of seven years in prison.
