Behind The Government's Intention To Expand Job Opportunities In The Republic Of Korea
JAKARTA - The government has a strategy to increase the empowerment of the productive age population. One of them is by expanding job opportunities for professionals working in the Republic of Korea.
"The plan to expand employment opportunities in the formal sector for professionals in the Republic of Korea is an effort by the government to reduce unemployment and to increase the empowerment of a productive workforce," said the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah after receiving the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Korea, Gandi Sulistiyanto, at the Ministry of Manpower Office in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 23 in a written statement on the ministry's website.
In May 2021, the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea signed an MoU on cooperation in the field of labor and labor relations for fishing vessel crews working on Korean-flagged fishing vessels.
"This MoU is a collaboration in the G to G scheme in the field of placing and protecting Indonesian fishing vessel crews in the Republic of Korea under the Foreign Seafearer System," he said.
He revealed that his party is currently developing an online application for overseas placement services, especially for countries that already have an MoU with Indonesia.
"Later on, this service mechanism will be adjusted based on the business process that has been agreed upon by the two countries, so that more accurate and accountable data collection can facilitate PMI monitoring and supervision," he said.

The Minister of Manpower Ida hopes that the opening of job opportunities in the Republic of Korea can expand job opportunities for the Indonesian people, increase the exchange of skills and knowledge between the two countries, develop protection mechanisms and data collection for PMI that is more accurate than the mechanism of independent placement.
"This can be a good input for the Indonesian government in exploring the placement and protection of Indonesian professional workers in the Republic of Korea," he said.
