This UFC Fighter Chooses To Receive His Salary With Bitcoin
JAKARTA – UFC fighter Matheus Nicolau decided to receive his salary in Bitcoin (BTC). Nicolau has reportedly signed an agreement to receive cryptocurrency-denominated earnings through leading crypto payment service Bitwage.
The agreement makes the Brazilian fighter the first Latin American to receive a salary with BTC. Nicolau himself took the decision because fiat currency inflation was getting out of control.

Seeing the potential future of BTC as a deflationary peer-to-peer digital money, Nicolau's manager, Vinicius Las Casas expressed his belief in Bitcoin.
“We are very optimistic about Bitcoin, and we want to spread the gospel of Bitcoin with this new deal,” said Las Casas.

According to Dailycoin, in order to receive Bitcoin paychecks through Bitwage, users must register and obtain a bank account number, this account number is then given to the employer, who can then deposit the paycheck. After the paycheck comes in, the user will receive the Bitcoins to the wallet of their choice.
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, or altcoins, have high volatility. That means its value is not as stable as fiat money. However, cryptocurrencies are deflationary, unlike traditional money, which is often haunted by the threat of inflation.
