After The Plane Belonging To China Easter Airlines Crashed, The Ministry Of Transportation Ensures That The Boeing 737-800 Is Still Operating In Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) as the national civil aviation regulator, continues to make efforts to increase supervision so that aviation safety and security can be maintained. This follows the crash of a Boeing 737-800 NG belonging to China Easter Airlines.
Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Novie Riyanto said the Boeing 737-800 aircraft were still operating in Indonesia. There are at least 120 aircraft of this type that are recorded to be still in the air. However, some of them are under treatment.
"The Boeing 737-800 aircraft will continue to operate as usual in Indonesia, and the checking process is still ongoing as part of a periodic audit carried out by inspectors from Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 22.
Regarding the plane crash that occurred in China, Novie said that the Ministry of Transportation is currently monitoring the development of the situation.
"Until there is sufficient and clear information to make policies, especially the implementation of air transportation," he said.
Furthermore, Novie said that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation also continues to communicate intensely with airlines, especially domestic airlines, as well as increasing strict supervision of aircraft operation safety.
"To ensure operator compliance with aviation safety regulations," he said.
In addition, Novie Riyanto expressed his deep condolences for the China Eastern Airline accident that crashed in the mountains of the Guangxi region, South China, on Monday afternoon, March 21, carrying 123 passengers and nine crew members, based on information from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
"We express our deep condolences to the victims of the China Eastern Boeing 737-800 plane crash in the Guangxi region. We hope that the investigation into the cause of the accident can be identified soon," he said.
