Buleleng Police Investigate Abandoned PMI Bali Distribution Agents In Turkey

BULELENG - The Buleleng Police are investigating the alleged fraud of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) from Bali by agents distributing them to Turkey. There were 29 PMIs who had been abandoned in Turkey.

The Head of Public Relations of the Buleleng Police, AKP Gede Sumarjaya, said that the Bali Police had transferred the case to the Buleleng Police.

"The delegation from the Bali Police has been received by the Buleleng Police and is currently under administration in the investigation process on March 9, 2022. The consideration is because the victims and witnesses are in Singaraja, Buleleng", said Sumarjaya, Thursday, March 17.

The investigation process was carried out by examining several people as witnesses.

"It is in the process of being investigated. Several witnesses have been summoned and some have arrived. But the summoning of witnesses has begun", he said.

It was previously reported that as many as 29 Balinese were reportedly displaced in Turkey. They are suspected of being victims of fraud by being promised jobs but only using vacation visas when leaving.

Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) for the Denpasar, Bali Region, Wiam Satriawan, said his party had followed up on this incident by sending a letter to the Central BP2MI (Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency).

"We have followed up. That this is indeed the responsibility of the state and the state must be present in resolving this case", said Wiam when contacted, Friday, March 11.
