Thunderstorms Forecast Thursday-Friday This Week, BMKG Urges Residents Of West Kutai To Be Aware Of Potential Floods And Landslides

BALIKPAPAN - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) through its station in Balikpapan stated, West Kutai (Kubar) Regency, East Kalimantan has the potential to experience thunderstorms accompanied by wind in two days, namely Thursday and Friday this week.

"This incident can cause several things such as flooding, overflowing rivers, slippery roads, and landslides, so residents must be vigilant," said Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan BMKG Balikpapan Meteorological Station Forecast, Heni Herlina in Balikpapan, Antara, Wednesday, March 16.

His party has conveyed an early warning of the incident to the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), so that anticipation can be made to minimize its impact on the community.

Details of the area that has the potential for thunderstorms in Kubar Regency are on Thursday, March 17 at 17.00 WITA, it has the potential to occur in three sub-districts, namely Muara Pahu, Jempang, and Muara Lawa District.

Then at 20.00 and 23.00 WITA, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in all sub-districts, except for Bongan Sub-district, which is predicted to only experience light rain.

Furthermore, on Friday, March 18, at 02.00 in the morning, thunderstorms are predicted to fall in Damai, Bentian Besar, Melak, Barong Tongkok, Nyuatan, Sekolaq Darat, and Siluq Ngurai sub-districts.

"Still on Friday, at dawn at around 05.00, thunderstorms are predicted to occur in three sub-districts, namely Bentian Besar, Bongan, and Siluq Ngurai Districts," said Heni.

During those two days, he continued, the temperature in Kubar Regency was in the range of 23-32 degrees Celsius, the average wind speed was 10 kilometers per hour, and the humidity was in the range of 65-100 percent.
