Can Recognize Handwriting, This Is A New Feature Of Google Chrome 99 That You Need To Know
JAKARTA - Google Chrome 99 comes with many new and better features. This latest version of the Chrome browser has been released on the latest Chrome beta channel, starting February 3. This update is available for Android, Chrome OS, Linux, Windows, and macOS.
As announced in a recent Chromium blog post, here are some important features of Chrome 99 that are worth checking out.
Handwriting Recognition APIThe new Chrome 99 features a Handwriting Recognition API that can recognize and convert handwriting to text. With this feature, Chrome 99 will convert your handwriting to text in real-time and on your device.
Window Control Overlays for Progressive Web AppsWindow controls are the buttons to the right and left of the title bar area including the minimize, maximize, and close buttons. They also include the title of the application.
In Chrome 99, you can place custom content in the title bar area and replace the title bar with a small overlay capable of holding window controls. This will make your Chrome browser look more like an app.
Items downloaded in earlier versions of Chrome are usually displayed side by side at the bottom of the browser. However, the display for the Chrome 99 download shortcut is at the top and gets a custom download shortcut icon.
This feature is still under development and will be rolled out to the stable version once it is complete. Once launched, you can also pin Download Shortcut to the bar at the top.
Programmable SelectorChrome 99 has a feature that allows web pages to open the browser for elements such as date, color, and list data without relying on custom widgets and CSS hacks.
You can test this new feature through the Glitch demo site, where you can experiment with choosing different dates including choosing a custom date. To preview, simply click on the Show picker drop-down.
Origin TrialsWith Chrome 99, you can now easily enroll in Chrome's origin trial program. This feature allows you to try out new features and provide feedback on usability, practicality, and effectiveness to the web standards community.
Dark mode support for web apps is one of the available trials that you can try if you sign up for the origin trial program.
Chrome 99 has many more exciting new features to offer. However, this feature seems to be aimed more at developers. Chrome currently releases a new update every four weeks.
