Cipinang Prison Raid: No Drugs, Only Cell Phones, Irons, Blenders And Other Electronic Items Owned By Detainees

JAKARTA - The Task Force for the Implementation of the Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) of the DKI Jakarta Regional Kumham Office searched the residential area of the prison inmates (WBP) in Block Type 7 OH, 2nd Floor, Class I Correctional Institution (Lapas) Cipinang, East Jakarta.

This sudden search is to minimize prohibited and dangerous objects in the prison. Razia also searched for mobile phone communication devices, other electronic goods, drugs and sharp weapons.

"The result was that no drugs were found. Only a number of mobile phones, electronic goods and others," said the Head of the DKI Jakarta Kemenkumham Regional Office, Ibnu Chuldun when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, March 1.

The evidence was secured from the 20 owners who were in the detention cell.

"A total of 20 correctional inmates at BAP. They also get straf cells (special cells) for one week," he said.

The evidence confiscated from the raids in the block room were 18 mobile phones, 21 chargers, 4 headsets, 7 stoves, 12 portable gas units, Hexos, 1 portable fan, 10 roll cables, 3 electric irons, 1 unit of rice cooker, 3 units of speakers, 15 units of cutlery, 1 unit of blender, 2 units of shaving machine to 2 units of frying pan.

"It was found 3 units of sharp weapons, 6 units of scissors, 2 units of screwdriver, 1 unit of hammer and 2 units of kape," he said.

Later, the confiscated cellphone evidence will be destroyed.

"After being recorded, the evidence from the raids and searches was secured to be destroyed," he said.
