SIMPANG EMPAT - The majority of victims affected by the 6.1 magnitude earthquake in West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra are still living in the main refugee camps, because they are still traumatized and worried that there will be aftershocks.
"We are still traumatized by the aftershocks and we can't go back home, because our house is uninhabitable," said one of the refugees, Yati, 52, at Simpang Empat, as reported by Antara, Monday, February 28.

Another refugee, Silam (60) from Jorong Simpang Timbo Abu, said he and his family fled to the main refugee post in the regent's office yard, for fear of aftershocks and landslides.
"Our area is at the foot of Mount Talamau and the tremors of the earthquake were felt. Moreover, at the foot of Mount Talamau there was also a landslide," he said.
With the threat of landslides, he said, his family fled to the main post in the regent's office yard at Simpang Empat. "We are safe, because we are far from the threat of landslides," said another resident, Dalih (59).
Meanwhile, the West Pasaman Regency Government continued to receive assistance at the regent's official home disaster post from various parties. The local government also continues to distribute aid to residents affected by the earthquake, either directly or to refugee posts spread across Talamau and Kinali sub-districts.
"We continue to fulfill the needs of refugees by distributing them directly through a team that has been appointed," said West Pasaman Regent Hamsuardi.
As of Monday, February 28, the impact of infrastructure damage due to the earthquake, namely the Simpang Empat - Panti Province road kilometers 18 to 20 kilometers, the aprit bridges of Batang Parhiasan and Batang Kuranji Kajai, as well as clean water and irrigation pipes were also damaged.
