Trimurti Belief Ritual At Watu Ulo Jember Beach Dissolved By Police

JAKARTA - Police officers disbanded a religious ritual carried out by dozens of residents from the Trimurti Kejawen Kejayan Group from Nganjuk Regency on Watu Ulo Beach, Jember Regency, East Java, Saturday, February 26, 2022.

"The ritual activity of the Trimurti Kejawen Kejayan Group was carried out at Watu Ulo Beach which was attended by 18 people, including the driver," said Ambulu Police Chief AKP Makruf when confirmed by Antara by telephone in Jember.

According to him, residents around the coast conveyed to the Bhayangkara Supervisor of Community Security and Order (Bhabinkamtibmas) Sumberejo Village, Ambulu District that there were residents outside the city who held ritual activities at Watu Ulo Beach.

"After receiving the report, Bhabinkamtibmas reported it to me and I explicitly asked for the ritual activities to be disbanded so that the deadly ritual tragedy on Payangan Beach killed 11 people," he said.

Joint officers immediately went to the location of Watu Ulo Beach to remind residents who were performing the ritual using a loudspeaker, so that they disperse and go up to the mainland.

Officers also conveyed the ritual tragedy at Payangan Beach which killed 11 people because of the waves in the southern sea two weeks ago, thus asking residents who carried out the ritual to disperse and go ashore.

"Dozens of residents from Nganjuk finally climbed ashore and officers took them to the Ambulu Police Headquarters for questioning, and were given an explanation that the location was dangerous," he said.

He explained that his party gave directions and appeals to Nganjuk residents not to carry out rituals in the south coast sea because the waves were unexpected because the last few weeks the sea waves were quite high.

"After giving directions, we asked them to return to Nganjuk and not to carry out any more rituals on the south coast of Jember for their own safety because the south sea waves are dangerous," he said.

Residents around Watu Ulo Beach had time to capture the ritual procession carried out by the Trimurti Kejawen Kejayan Group and distributed to a number of WhatsApp groups. The video shows the ritual activities of immersing oneself in the estuary of Watu Ulo Beach while raising their hands as if asking for prayer.

The ritual activity of this belief is two weeks away from the deadly ritual event on Payangan Beach which killed 11 people and 12 people survived the fierce waves of the southern sea.
