Pertamina Brings Good News, PLTGU Jawa-1 Successfully Performs First Fire Unit 1
JAKARTA - Pertamina New Renewable Energy (NRE) has succeeded in conducting a first fire at the Java-1 Gas and Steam Power Plant (PLTGU). The largest gas-fired power plant in Southeast Asia is expected to have a Commercial Operation Date (COD) this semester.
First Fire is or commonly known as the first ignition unit power block, especially gas turbines using gas. For PLTGU Jawa-1, gas supply comes from LNG ex Tangguh Papua which is regasified at the Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) Jawa Satu.
Pertamina NRE Corporate Secretary Dicky Septriadi revealed, after the first fire, the next series of stages were further commissioning, synchronization, performance tests, reliability tests and finally COD.
"The existence of the Java-1 PLTGU is very important in the energy transition process where gas is an environmentally friendly energy and the main bridge to realize the national energy mix as mandated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia," he said in a statement quoted on Friday, February 25.
Dicky continued, by integrating the FSRU with generating units, PLTGU Jawa-1 became the largest integrated PLTGU in Southeast Asia with 2 power block units and a total capacity of 1,760 MW.
PLTGU Jawa-1 uses the latest generation of single shaft combined cycle gas turbine technology which provides high thermal efficiency reaching the range of 60-65 percent and generates electricity which will later be sent to PLN via a 500 KV transmission line to the PLN Substation in Cibatu Baru/Sukatani, Bekasi. .
PLTGU Jawa-1 is designed to supply electricity to industrial and household consumers in the Bekasi, East Jakarta and North Jakarta areas.
