Tottenham's Frustration With Burnley Defeat, Antonio Conte: I'm Ready To Go
JAKARTA - Tottenham Hotspurs suffered a 0-1 defeat during the postponed match week 13 in the 2021/2022 English League. The bitter result at Turf Moor Stadium on Thursday, February 24 at dawn WIB then frustrated Antonio Conte the coach.
Not only that, Conte even stated that he was ready to leave because of the inconsistent results that The Lilywhites continued to show. Spurs have lost four of their last five matches in the Premier League.
Even though they had won an important match during a visit to Manchester City headquarters some time before. This was later admitted by Conte to be so confusing that he did not understand what factors were the faults in the team.
"I'm not used to this situation. I've tried everything but the situation hasn't changed," Conte said after the match was quoted by BBC Sport.
"I'm here to help the club and if the problem turns out to be with the coach I'm ready to go, no problem."
In the match at Burnley headquarters, Tottenham had actually tried to appear consistent and tried to continue to provide sharp attacks towards the goal to open goals. This effort can be seen from the difficulty of the host to penetrate the visitors' defense.
But all of Tottenham's efforts finally disappeared because in the 71st minute Burnley managed to break into the goal that was guarded by Nick Pope. Spurs' 1-0 score towards the end of the match could not be chased by the Spurs until finally the referee sounded the long whistle and the victory belonged to the hosts.
Seeing how the team is performing on the pitch, Conte says he has worked hard to help Tottenham bounce back. He also feels his squad has made the same effort.
However, the appearance that the coach considers to have been consistent enough has not yet been able to bear fruit. Until no doubt Conte admitted that he was frustrated with this situation.
"I want to help the club, I work a lot, quite hard. I give 20 hours a day for Tottenham and only four hours to sleep, but it's not enough," he explained.
"Our performances can be good and commitment is also good but we lost. For me this situation is not easy to accept. To lose four out of five games for Tottenham is a disaster," Conte said annoyed.
"This is the right moment to do an assessment. I repeat, I am very frustrated," said the coach.
Losing three points at Burnley's headquarters makes Tottenham have to be stuck in eighth position in the Premier League standings with 39 points. While the full points taken by Burnley still have not been able to boost their position from the relegation zone with 20 points.
