Mark Zuckerberg's Ambition Is More Visible, Reveals AI Projects As Key To Metaverse

JAKARTA - Meta founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has just revealed his new project includes artificial intelligence research to produce a wider metaverse world.

The AI project, described as the key to unlocking the metaverse, will bring a number of capabilities through speech, improving the way people chat with voice assistants and translate between languages.

In a live-streamed demonstration, Zuckerberg created a basic virtual world including an island, a tree and a beach using the AI Builder Bot feature. He also announced plans to build a universal speech translator.

"The ability to communicate with anyone in any language is a superpower that has been dreamed of forever," Zuckerberg said.

According to Zuckerberg, this is a futuristic idea of a virtual environment where users can work, socialize, play, and will be the successor to the mobile internet.

Zuckerberg explained, Builder Bot is a concept from the CAIRaoke Meta project to improve AI assistants and allow AI to see the world from experience when people enter virtual reality through headsets or glasses.

However, of course there will be many questions about the privacy and security of user data. In response, Zuckerberg promised that the AI system that drives the virtual world of Meta will maintain privacy and be transparent and responsible.

Facebook has been investing in AI for the last 10 years and has one of the world's leading experts, Yann LeCun at its head of AI.

In January, it was announced that it had built a new AI supercomputer that aims to be the fastest in the world when it is completed by mid-2022.

Facebook changed its company name to Meta in October last year, following disclosures by whistleblower Frances Haugen. At the time, Zuckerberg spoke about the expansive Metaverse accessible via VR headsets, such as Meta Quest, where people can work, play and chat.
