Ministry Of Manpower Says BPJS Employment Participants Can Claim JKP

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Manpower ensures that BPJS Employment participants who meet the requirements can claim the benefits of the Job Loss Insurance (JKP) program as of February 11, 2022.

The Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Manpower, Chairul Fadhly Harahap, stated that the JKP program is intended for workers/laborers who have experienced termination of employment (PHK) with benefits in the form of cash, job market information, and job training.

"Based on actuarial calculations, in 2022 there will be around 629 thousand JKP beneficiaries," Chairul said in a press release from the Ministry of Manpower's Public Relations Bureau, Tuesday, February 22.

Chairul explained, although it has not been officially launched, the JKP program has been in effect and the community has been able to feel the benefits since February 11, 2022.

"Actually, JKP will be inaugurated today, but due to technical considerations, the inauguration event will be rescheduled. Even so, the JKP program has been running and benefits can be claimed as of February 11, 2022," explained Chairul.

Even according to Chairul, currently BPJS Employment has started to pay cash benefits to a number of participants who have made JKP claims.

"As of February 18, 2022, there have been around 48 people who have claimed the benefits of this JKP," he said.

The JKP program is a social cushion provided for workers/labourers who have been laid off, workers who wish to work again, and workers who have a contribution period of at least 12 months in 24 months and pay contributions for 6 consecutive months before the layoff occurs.

The requirements for JKP program participants, namely Indonesian citizens who have been included in the social security program according to the stages of participation in Presidential Regulation Number 109 of 2013, namely for large and medium scale businesses, are included in the JKN, JKK, JHT, JP, and JKM programs.

Then, for small and micro businesses, they should be included at least in the JKN, JKK, JHT, and JKM programs. In addition, for the first time registration, workers are not yet 54 years old.
