Jose! Collect Taxes Of IDR 109 Trillion In January 2022, Sri Mulyani: We Are Grateful, But On The Other Side We Are Cautious

JAKARTA – The tax sector is still continuing its positive story by posting revenues of Rp. 109.1 trillion in January 2022. This figure jumped 59.39 percent compared to the same period the previous year (year on year/yoy) which was Rp. 68.5 trillion.

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said this achievement was an achievement after previously in 2021 the tax revenue sector had successfully penetrated the target of 100 percent before closing the book.

"The extraordinarily high increase in tax revenues is certainly something we are grateful for, but on the other hand we are wary," he said when holding a press conference on our State Budget through online channels on Tuesday, February 22.

The Minister of Finance added that the tax moncer performance was supported by non-oil and gas PPh which reached Rp61.14 trillion, an increase of 56.7 percent.

Then, other contributions were made by PPN and PPnBM which managed to grow 45.86 percent or reached Rp. 38.43 trillion. Meanwhile, oil and gas PPh was recorded at IDR 8.95 trillion due to the increase in oil and gas prices so that the achievement also jumped to 281.2 percent.

Judging from the type of tax, PPh 21 contributed 16.7 percent or an increase of 26.9 percent. This increase, continued the Minister of Finance, shows an improvement in the use of labor.

Another reflection can also be seen in terms of the declining unemployment rate and the payment of year-end bonuses to employees.

“What is also interesting for us to see from the side of this taxation story is corporate income tax, once again this is a corporation, which contributes 13 percent of our tax revenue. And if corporations start to be healthy, we hope that our economy will also start to be strong," closed the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
