Controlling Roadside Homeless, Central Jakarta Sub-dept. Of Social Services Targets Nine Points Of Beggar-Prone Areas

JAKARTA - Head of the Central Jakarta Social Sub-dept., Abdul Salam, said that his party had arrested as many as 42 Social Welfare Service Needs (PPKS) or homeless people in eight sub-districts from January 1 to February 21, 2022.

From the results of the data collection, the areas prone to the presence of PPKS or homeless people are on Jalan Samanhudi, Jalan Galur, Jalan Jati Baru, Karet Bivak area, around the HI Roundabout, Imam Bonjol, Senen terminal, Jalan Rawasari and Harmoni.

"We have deployed 83 Rapid Response Teams (TRC) from the Social Supervision and Control Service (P3S) officers to dispel them," Abdul Salam said when contacted by reporters, Tuesday, February 22.

Abdul also appealed to residents not to easily give money on the road to PPKS.

"If you want to provide assistance to residents, you can channel it through official institutions," he said.

The TCR officers were divided into two shifts, they carried out monitoring from morning to night.

"Officers identify surveillance by paying attention to the signs of PPKS (homeless people) when they act on the streets, generally on busy roads," he said.

The PPKS who were caught were taken to the Bina Insan Bangun Daya social home in the Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta.

"Those who are caught must take an antigen swab first, then training will be provided with skills training," he said.
