Bye-Bye Tekor, Sri Mulyani Reveals January 2022 State Budget Surplus IDR 28.9 Trillion
JAKARTA – The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reports that the condition of the 2022 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) showed very good performance at the beginning of this year.
Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that until the close of January 2022 there was a budget surplus of Rp. 28.9 trillion. This number is quite striking compared to the same period the previous year which experienced a deficit of Rp45.5 trillion.
The Minister of Finance detailed that last month's surplus was generated from state revenues, which were larger than the spending sector with Rp. 156 trillion compared to Rp. 127.2 trillion.
"This is a situation where our APBN is experiencing a very good reversal," he said when holding a virtual press conference on Tuesday, February 22.
Furthermore, based on the data distributed by the state treasurer, it can be seen that the moncer performance of the State Budget cannot be separated from the growth of tax revenues which amounted to 59.4 percent to Rp. 109.1 trillion compared to January 2021 which amounted to Rp. 68.5 trillion.
Customs and excise also experienced a similar result, which shot up 99.4 percent to Rp. 24.9 trillion from the previous Rp. 12.5 trillion. As well as non-tax state revenues (PNBP), which grew 11.4 percent to Rp22 trillion from Rp19.7 trillion last year.
Meanwhile, the spending side mostly contracted as seen from the negative growth in the central government spending sector.
"Shopping is slowing down mainly because the center has started to enter the normal spending phase," he said.
For information, this year the government has budgeted state expenditures in the 2022 State Budget of IDR 2,714.2 trillion with an estimated revenue of IDR 1,846.1 trillion.
This means that the budget deficit is pegged at IDR 868 trillion, equivalent to 4.85 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).
