Six Ex-Garuda Indonesia Officials Examined By The Attorney General's Office For Aircraft Lease Cases

JAKARTA - Investigators of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General's Office have examined six former high-ranking officials of PT Garuda Indonesia as witnesses related to the investigation into the alleged corruption case of inflating the cost of renting an airline owned by the government.

The six former officials of Garuda Indonesia, namely Achirina Soetjipto (AS) as Director of Strategic and Risk Management Development of PT Garuda Indonesia 2011, Heriyanto Agung Putra (HAP) as VP Human Capital Communications PT Garuda Indonesia 2011-2016 and Pujobroto (P) as VP Corporate Communications PT Garuda Indonesia 2017.

Then, Meijer Frederik Johanes (MFJ) as Director of Marketing and Sales of PT Garuda Indonesia 2013, Helmi Imam Satriyono as Director of Finance and Risk Management of PT Garuda Indonesia 2013, and Handrito Harjono (HH) as Finance Director of PT Garuda Indonesia 2017.

Head of the Attorney General's Office for Legal Information Center, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, said the six witnesses were being questioned regarding the aircraft procurement mechanism.

"Witness examination is carried out to provide information for the purpose of the investigation in order to find legal facts about the corruption crime that occurred in the procurement of PT Garuda Indonesia aircraft," Leonard said, quoted in his written statement in Jakarta, Monday, February 21.

Previously, Thursday, February 17, investigators from the Jampidsus Attorney General's Office examined Juliandra Nurtjahjo, the former President Director of PT Citilink Indonesia as a witness.

During the investigation, Juliandra was still the President Director of Citilink Indonesia. On Monday, February 14, investigators examined Chairal Tanjung, Commissioner of Garuda Indonesia and Linggasari Suharso, as Director of Human Resources and General Affairs 2017, and Capten Trianto Moeharsono as VP Operation Planning and Control. in 2009. The three were also investigated regarding the mechanism for aircraft procurement.

The Attorney General's Office has raised the status of the alleged corruption case of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, to the general investigation stage on Wednesday, January 19.

Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin said that the investigation would progress, not only regarding the ATR 72-600, but also related to the procurement of Bombardier, Airbus, Boeing, and Rolls Royce.
