I'm Well! Minister Of Health Budi Gunadi Says 70 Percent Of Indonesians Have Been Vaccinated With The First Dose Of COVID-19

JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said 189 million or around 70 percent of the people in the country had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"The good news yesterday was 189 million, meaning that 70 percent of the population has received the first dose of vaccination," Budi said in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, February 21.

Even so, the Minister of Health asked for the vaccine to continue to be pursued. Primarily, inject a second dose.

Moreover, Budi said, there are still a few provinces that have reached 70 percent for the second dose.

"We must pursue so that the second dose can be increased to reach that number so that we can complete 70 percent of the population to get two doses of vaccination," said the former Deputy Minister of SOEs.

"Our advice is not to be picky (the type of vaccine, ed) which is currently available, both as a booster and as a complete primary vaccination," added Budi.

Minister of Health Budi said it was important to administer the COVID-19 vaccine. The reason is that the death rate due to exposure to the virus is more likely because the patient has a comorbid disease and has not received a complete two-dose vaccination.

"So once again we repeat again, continuously, immediately vaccinated. The vaccine must also be complete at least twice. If there are our elderly friends, we are encouraged to get vaccinated quickly," he said.

As previously reported, on Sunday, February 20, the Ministry of Health revealed that 189,646,917 people had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 140,301,087 of the second dose of vaccination.

Meanwhile, for the third dose, 8,456,612 people have received it. There is also a target for vaccination in Indonesia as many as 208,265,720 people.
