Fire In Karubaga Tolikara, A Toddler Died
JAYAPURA - A fire broke out in Muara Giling Batu, Karubaga District, Tolikara Regency, Papua, scorching dozens of houses that were also kiosks and workshops and killing a toddler.
The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ahmad Kamal, said the fire that occurred at around 12.30 WIT had killed a toddler named Aslan.
According to reports received on Saturday, February 19, the incident began when the victim's parents, namely Asmar, were in the workshop and his wife was cooking in the kitchen.
Not long after, his wife ordered his two children to take a nap, after which he returned to the workshop.
After she finished cooking, she asked her husband to wake up the children for lunch. Suddenly, he heard the first small bang and the second big bang.
The first child was rushed down, and when he came back to pick up his second child who was a toddler suddenly saw fire from the side of his house, so he decided to jump out of his house and fell into a cliff with a height of about 20 meters without bringing Aslan's victim.
Members of the Tolikara Police who received reports of a fire going directly to the TKP led by the Deputy Chief of Tolikara Police, AKP Dallon Togatorop, and together with the community tried to extinguish the fire.
The fire could only be extinguished at around 13.25 WIT, said Kamal, adding that the case is currently being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tolikara Police.
"It is not yet known what caused the fire and how much damage it caused, as well as several units that were burned," said Kamal, quoted by Antara.
