Circulating CCTV Footage Of A Man Stealing A Congregation's Cellphone During Fajr Prayer At The Mosque, The Police Conduct An Investigation

JAKARTA - Instead of praying at the Al Muttaqien Mosque, Kramat Village, Senen, Central Jakarta, a man is suspected of stealing two cell phones belonging to the congregation.

Video of the theft was also caught on CCTV cameras around the mosque area. Seen, a man suspected of being the perpetrator entered the mosque wearing a sarong and a cap.

When he was inside the mosque, instead of attending the congregational prayer, he walked up to the second floor to take two cell phones belonging to the mosque administrator. After getting his coveted item, the man ran away.

Senen Police Chief Kompol Ari Susanto confirmed the theft.

"Yes. The victim just made a report earlier, Friday, February 18, at noon. Members of the Criminal Investigation Unit have checked the crime scene (TKP)," said Kompol Ari, Friday, February 18.

After checking the crime scene, members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Senen Police carried out further investigations by examining two witnesses.

"The case is still under investigation because the perpetrator is not a local resident. No one knows the perpetrator," he said.

The police have also secured CCTV footage to assist in the investigation and pursuit of the perpetrators. The phone theft case is still being handled by the Senen Police.
