7 Elected People, New KPU Members Asked To Return The Image Of The Institution From The Black Records Of The Previous Period
JAKARTA - The National Coordinator of the Voter Education Network for the People (JPPR) Alwan Ola Riantobi, highlighted the elected members of the KPU and Bawaslu for the 2022-2027 period. He considered that the new KPU and Bawaslu members should be able to restore the institution's image from the black record of the previous period.
According to Alwan, the elected KPU and Bawaslu members have good quality because they have experience in elections. Whether from KPU or Bawaslu members at the provincial level, Bawaslu members who move to the KPU, incumbents, to elements of non-governmental organizations.
"This means that in terms of knowledge, they are qualified people. It's just a matter of how to build solidarity and joint rhythm to build a good institutional image," said Alwan to reporters, Thursday, February 17.
Especially candidates for KPU members, he continued, must be able to build a better image of the Indonesian KPU in 2022-2027. Because according to him, the KPU for the current period is considered to have many black records. For example, said Alwan, there was a KPU member who was caught in a bribery case. Even some members were repeatedly sentenced to ethical violations by the DKPP, to a low level of public trust.
"The election was a good result accepted by all parties, the work according to the rules must be returned, the negative images that have been crowned to the organizers, especially the KPU, must be shown again," explained Alwan.
In addition, he added, KPU and Bawaslu members must build a collegial collective spirit. Informally, said Alwan, these elected members have been able to open communication.
"If then everyone puts their own ego forward, how can we create a solid KPU institutional face, a solid Bawaslu. If the commissioners have not found collective work yet," said Alwan. According to Alwan, the elected KPU and Bawaslu members must also strengthen relations between the two EMBs and out of public opinion that considers the relationship between the two EMBs as cat and mouse.
"So being an institution that supports each other is the most important thing," said Alwan. It is known that Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives has appointed KPU and Bawaslu members for the 2022-2027 period on Wednesday, February 16, evening.
The seven elected KPU members are Betty Epsilon Idroos, Hasyim Asy'ari, Mochammad Afifuddin, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik and August Mellaz.
