President Jokowi Will Be Inaugurated, These Are The Profiles Of 7 KPU Members Who Were Chosen By The DPR

JAKARTA - Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives has appointed members of the General Election Commission (KPU) for the 2022-2027 period on Wednesday, February 16, evening.

The seven elected KPU members are Betty Epsilon Idroos, Hasyim Asy'ari, Mochammad Afifuddin, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik and August Mellaz. After they took part in the fit and proper test held by Commission II of the DPR since Monday, February 14.

The names of the seven members of the 2022-2027 KPU will then be determined at the DPR Plenary Meeting to be sworn in by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

The following is a brief profile of the 7 elected KPU 2022-2027 members:

1. Betty Epsilon Idroos

Currently, Betty is the Chairperson of the 2018-2023 DKI Jakarta KPU and has been a KPU commissioner since 2013.

The woman who was born in Medan, March 22, 1979, has also been an Expert on Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (2009-2013) for Elections and Regional Autonomy.

He was also a research assistant at LP3ES, and was involved in Perkumpulan Demos and UNFREL (University Network for Free and Fair Elections).

A graduate of Political Science at the University of Indonesia, she is also active in organizations, such as the Indonesian Women's Congress (KOWANI) and became the General Chair of the PB HMI HMI Corps (KOHATI) for the 2006-2008 period.

2. Hasyim Asya'ri

The man who was born in Pati, March 3, 1973, is a Doctor of Political Sociology from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.

Currently, he still serves as a member of the 2017-2022 KPU RI. He was a member of PAW from 2016-2017.

Hasyim has also been a Member of the KPU for the Central Java Province for the period 2003-2008 and has been a law lecturer at Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Semarang.

In 1999, Hasyim served as Secretary of the Presidium of the Independent Election Monitoring Committee (KIPP) for Kudus Regency, Central Java.

He is also active as a researcher in various institutions, such as Bappenas in the field of law and institutions, a researcher at the Center for Constitutional Studies, Faculty of Law, UNDIP, and until now as a consultant at the Partnership for Governance Reform in Indonesia.

Hasyim is also active in organizations, including Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and since 1988 at the Kudus Branch of the Nahdlatul Ulama Putera Association (IPNU). He once served as Deputy Chairperson of the Ansor Youth Movement Region (GP) Central Java.

He is also a member of the Indonesian Legal Sociology Association (ASHI) in the Semarang area, and a member of the Indonesian Political Science Association (AIPI), as well as a member of the Central Java MUI.

3. Mochamad Afifudin

The man who was born in Sidoardo, February 1, 1980, is a Masters Degree in Political Communication at the University of Indonesia.

Now, he serves as a member of the Indonesian Election Supervisory Body for the 2017-2022 period. He is also a member of the DKPP ex officio from representatives of the RI Bawaslu elements. Afifuddin was a lecturer at FISIP UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Previously, Afifuddin was mostly involved in the world of elections through the NGO Voter Education Network for the People (JPPR). In fact, Afifuddin was once the national coordinator and steering committee for JPPR. In addition, he has also been on the Board of Diraclor ANFREL in 2014-2017.

Afifuddin is also actively involved in the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII), having been the Chairman of the UIN Jakarta Commissariat where he finished his undergraduate degree. Two have also been Deputy Secretary General and General Treasurer of PB PMII.

4. Parsadaan Harahap

The man who was born in Medan, July 1, 1972, succeeded in completing his Master's Degree in Administrative Sciences at the University of Bengkulu.

Now, he is the Chair of the Bengkulu Province Bawaslu which he has held since 2012. He has held this position for 2 periods, namely 2012-2017 and 2017-2022.

Previously, Parsadaan was a member of the Bengkulu Province KPU for the 2003-2008 and 2008-2012 Periods, the Chair of the Bengkulu Province KPU for the 2011-2012 and 2012-2017 Periods.

He was also active in organizations, such as the Chairman of the University Student Senate (SMPT) Bengkulu University 1995-1996, General Chairperson of the Bengkulu Branch of the Islamic Student Association (HMI) 1996-1997, Deputy Secretary General of the Executive Board of the Islamic Student Association (PB HMI) 1999- 2001, General Chairperson of the Bengkulu Province KNPI Regional Management Board 2001-2005, Deputy Secretary General of the 2005-2008 KNPI Central Executive Board, Chair of the 2008-2011 KNPI Central Executive Board and the Bengkulu Province KAHMI MW Presidium 2016-2021

5. Yulianto Sudrajat

Yulianto is a man who was born in Sukoharjo, July 9, 1973 and completed his master's degree in Communication Studies at Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. Now, he is the Chairman of the Central Java KPU for the 2018-2023 period.

Previously, he was a member of the Sukoharjo Regency KPU for 2 periods from 2008 to 2018. He was also the Deputy Branch Manager of PT. The Triumvirate of Surakarta 2003-2007.

Yulianto is also active in organizational activities, including the Deputy Chair of the Student Association of the Communication Sciences Department of FISIP, Slamet Riyadi University, Surakarta 1993, Deputy Chair of the FISIP Student Senate, Slamet Riyadi University, Surakarta, 1994.

In addition, he served on the Editorial Board of the SIKAP FISIP Magazine, Slamet Riyadi University, Surakarta 1994, Deputy Chairperson of the 1996 GMNI Surakarta Branch Executive Board, and Secretary of the 2010 GMNI Alumni Association Sukoharjo Branch.

6. Idham Holik

Idham is a Doctor of Communication Science at the University of Indonesia (UI).

Now, he has served as a member of the West Java Provincial KPU since 2018 until now. From 2003-2013, Idham served as a member of the KPU Bekasi Regency, West Java. Then in 2013-2018, he was also elected as the Chairperson of the Bekasi Regency KPU.

Idham is also active in the world of organizations, such as being the Executive Board of the Islamic Student Association (PB HMI), the Manager of the Karawang-Bekasi Branch of HMI, the President of the Unisma Bekasi Student Republic and has been the Chair of the Senate of the Unisma Bekasi Faculty of Economics.

7. August Melasz

Currently, August works as the Executive Director of the Syndicate for Elections and Democracy (SPD). He received his last education at the National University of Jakarta, Masters in Political Science.

August also often helps the government, KPU, Bawaslu, and DKPP in studies and research related to election issues. He has also been involved in the selection team for regional Bawaslu members and an orientation facilitator for KPU ranks.
